The biggest change in the State Government’s nation-leading home battery scheme is just 10 business days away.
If householders don’t act as quickly as possible to secure their current subsidy and VPP credits they will miss out on thousands of dollars of savings.
Adelaide’s Sharpe Energy Hub warns that only applications conditionally approved before April 15 are eligible for the current high subsidy level.
At present eligible domestic batteries applicants are receiving a government subsidy of up to $6000 or $500/kWh of usable battery storage.
In addition to this, the most popular Virtual Power Plant, Simply VPP, has a plan that pays up to $5100 in credits at $7/day over two years, plus it pays participants a 15c Feed-in-Tariff.
These figures apply both to those adding a battery to an existing solar array or installing a new solar-battery system.
Right now the figures for domestic battery storage add up better in South Australia than any other state. Payback times are as low as two to four years.
If applicants wait until April 15, or possibly a week before, eligible applicants will receive the reduced subsidy of up to $4000 while the possibility of available places left in the Simply VPP plan may be minimal.
Any hesitation risks a double whammy that could potentially lose applicants up to $7100.
