Don’t wait on the sidelines. The next three months are the last window for significant savings. Solar installation will never be more affordable.
Why?
A variety of events have coincided that will take effect from March:
- The Australian dollar is being boosted by the incoming Donald Trump Presidency and the expected reassessment of America’s trade deals with China. Once that is resolved our dollar will ease in value, affecting the price of imported solar products.
- Australia’s last major solar subsidy, the Small Scale Technology Energy Certificates (STCs) scheme, gets a major revision from January 1, 2017, where the rebates are severely reduced year by year.
- The cost of producing solar panels has been reducing by 10 per cent a year over the past two decades but the industry has seen significant recent change that will see pricing start to plateau. With the smaller players weeded out there are fewer manufacturers, but they are bigger and will attempt to recover the huge cost of research and development on the more efficient products they are bringing to market.
- Despite the State Government’s legal battle with SA Power Networks, electricity prices will continue to rise in 2017.
