You don’t have to wait for the state
The release of the South Australian Government’s energy plan confirms that battery storage has gone mainstream. The Government is establishing a $150 million fund for planning and to support battery storage and renewable technology in SA.
The aim is to protect SA’s electricity grid against future blackouts. It’s a step in the right direction but doesn’t guarantee a dramatic reduction in a typical household’s energy bill. The State’s household electricity bills have more than doubled since 2008, sparking a domestic rooftop revolution in solar-panel power generation.
The next step forward is home battery storage. While the State is only in the planning stages of creating the largest battery to back up our grid, the technology is already available here with our range of in-home battery storage options. And South Australians are embracing it with enthusiasm, knowing that we have the sunshine hours to back it up.
