South Australia’s once-in-a-lifetime weather event may be in the clean-up phase but the ongoing issue is security of power supplies to households.
Energy Rating Systems has the solution with the StorEdge Inverter, which provides emergency backup day or night. Come and talk to us about it at this weekend’s Sunday Mail Home Show at the Adelaide Showground.
We will demonstrate how coupling rooftop solar panels with a Tesla Powerwall and the StorEdge Inverter will give you total peace of mind during power blackouts.
Make no mistake; the likelihood of more power blackouts is a certainty. Last spring and summer South Australia experienced several power outages during heatwaves. For the rest of this year emergency services are expecting to add in the fact that the waterlogged ground has undermined many significant trees and it isn’t taking strong winds to knock them over, often bringing down powerlines.
SA Power Networks is quite clear on the issue of household power supply.
It warns: “Whether it is summer, winter, autumn or spring, we can’t guarantee there won’t be an event affecting supply. That’s why we say, ‘Don’t be surprised by an outage, be prepared.’ We recommend you plan for the rare times when you might be without power, particularly if you rely on life-saving equipment or equipment such as water pumps.”
South Australia has the highest penetration of rooftop solar in the country and many householders are planning to add battery storage to their systems.
Safety regulations prohibit solar and storage systems running during power outages unless they can be quarantined from the grid.
The StorEdge Inverter does this by. During an outage it disconnects the house to make sure there is no excess power leaking to the grid. It then diverts the energy produced by the solar panels and battery to the desired loads in your home.
The StorEdge DC is simple to install and does not require any change to the cables from your rooftop panel array or household wiring. StorEdge is also compatible with Tesla’s Powerwall storage.
Visit Energy Rating Systems at Stand F215 in the Jubilee Pavilion and we will explain how simple and affordable 24-hour power security is.
The Home Show runs from this Friday until Sunday, open 10am to 5pm.
